♥ Blues-n-Barbecue Festival ♥

I'm not a huge fan of Blues music (I don't dislike it, I just don't usually go out of my way to listen to it), but I am a fan of being outside, people watching...and good, smoky barbecue! Blues-n-Barbecue has been going on since Friday, and I would imagine that the first two days were a bit more crowded than today, the last day. It is set up on the lawn of the historical Water Tower on River Road.

There was plenty of shady seating to relax and listen to some music and enjoy some brisket, sausage, or pulled pork. I chose to munch on a brisket sandwich with some fries and (spicy!!) green beans. Yum! I caught the last half of the performance by the Hellfish, and the first half of The Straycat Band. People were up dancing and having a great time despite the high temperatures. I didn't stay more than a couple hours, but it was nice to get out and enjoy the day!

♥ Avalon ♥

Oh. My. Goodness. All I can say is that you MUST go to Avalon and have the Lobster Mac & Cheese. It is heaven in a dish! :-)

Avalon is a posh restaurant in the hip Highlands area of Louisville.

Reservations are not required, but they are highly recommended. Tonight (a Tuesday), they had 110 reservations before 8:00pm! Just goes to show how popular this place is!

The first impression of the restaurant was that it is romantic and upscale, yet still cozy and laid-back. Dim lighting, a subdued yet elegant color scheme, real tablecloths and napkins...it all made me a little giddy! A seat by the window to watch people and dogs go by on their evening walks made it even better.

I knew before arriving that I wanted to try the Lobster Mac & Cheese. Aside from hearing from others how wonderful it is, how can you not love pasta smothered in ooey, gooey cheese with delicious chunks of lobster...and truffle oil?! Truffle oil!! Seriously!

One word of warning...it is ridiculously rich! After just a few bites I was already starting to feel full! But that didn't stop us from also trying the White Bean Hummus and the Pow-Pow Shrimp. Both were tasty, but the award winner of the night was definitely the Mac!

♥ Mojito Tapas Restaurant ♥

Mmm...Mojito! I have been a few times, but it is definitely the most fun to go with a group of friends. Ordering small appetizer-sized portions of deliciousness and passing the platters around so everyone gets a little taste of everything. Guacamole with plantain chips, black bean and red pepper hummus, shrimp ceviche, ravioli, empanadas de picadillo, sweet potato fries, stuffed dates...and a trio de chocolate desert! Add a sangria or margarita, and it's just plain fun!! At least visit their website...the music is enough to put you in the mood!

♥ Howl at the Moon Happy Hour Party ♥

Ok, so I know that Howl at the Moon is not exclusive to Louisville, and I have been there many a time in several different cities...but, I wanted to write about it because I just so happened to win a free Happy Hour party for myself and 99 of my closest friends! The party was last night, and while only about 25 of my nearest and dearest could make it, it made me happy to see members of my different groups of friends mixing and mingling! Old friends, new friends, work friends, photography friends, my dad's friends who have become my friends by proxy...everyone seemed to have a really good time!

♥ Tumbleweed on the River ♥

Tumbleweed is a regional restaurant chain specializing in "Southwestern" fare. It is not authentic as far as what I am used to (being from Texas), but it is definitely decent. There are several locations in Louisville, but my favorite is the one that is on the Ohio River downtown.

My brother, David, and his wife, Shannon, were in town visiting, so we thought it would be a great time for a trip to Tumbleweed on the River. Shannon and I had a great time taking photos of the beautiful sunset from the deck while we were waiting for our food to come!

On our way downtown. :-)

We played on the swings in the park after dinner. :-)

Love.
